Alumnus Woohyun Jung (Advisor: Moohwan Kim), who received his Ph.D. from Division of Advanced Nuclear Engineering, POSTECH in February 2020, has been appointed as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UNLV (University of Nevada, Las Vegas).

Prof. Jung, who is gaining recognition as a leading researcher in the field of safety analysis of nuclear power plants, grounded in thermal-hydraulics, has been actively conducting research on accident analysis for various reactor designs, including LWRs, SMRs and gas-cooled fast reactors. In particular, he is participating as the lead PI in the “Genesis Mission”—a large-scale, AI-based scientific innovation project led by the U.S. government—where he is spearheading research to develop AI agents that accelerate nuclear safety analysis.
