▶ Title: MOOSE Framework and Reactor Physics Code Development Under US-DOE NEAMS Project
▶ Abstract: This seminar will introduce the MOOSE framework and discuss the ongoing development of reactor physics tools within the Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling and Simulation (NEAMS) project, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy (DOE-NE). The MOOSE framework is a versatile multi-physics simulation toolkit built on an unstructured mesh structure and finite element method to facilitate seamless simulations of various phenomena within reactor systems. Initially, we will overview the key features of the MOOSE framework. Building upon this foundation, we will explore the active development of Griffin, a new reactor physics tool designed for multi-physics simulation of advanced reactor designs. Developed collaboratively by Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), Griffin leverages the powerful capabilities of the MOOSE framework. The seminar will highlight the progress made in Griffin's development, emphasizing its essential capabilities and practical applications. Furthermore, fundamental aspects of reactor physics will be covered to enhance the audience's understanding of the subject matter.
